The C. C. C. Story
Welcome to the Country Communication Centre, founded in 2006 by Frida Vander Horst.
This is the home of a modern architectural building constructed using ancient Etruscan techniques.
We prioritize environmental awareness and harmony with nature in all our communication efforts. The Country Communication Center (CCC) is a non-profit organization in Tuscany
dedicated to Environmental Awareness and organizes Eco-activities during the summer
to upgrade Quality of Life. The Centre is situated in the
fascinating Etruscan Bay of Baratti and is an ideal venue to explore
the Ecological and Historical wealth of the territory.

I was born in the Netherlands and my first contact with agriculture came through my mother,
a descendant of an ancient farming civilization.
I studied in Rome, graduating from the University of La Sapienza in 1978, February 25, 1980.
I was on a train returning to Tuscany after visiting my mother in Amsterdam.
On that train, a young woman named Dorothea Mola joined me.
She was a Gnostic, returning from a conference on holistic philosophy.
At a certain point, I asked my travelling companion if in her frequent travels,
she had found a place where the energetic strength was in perfect harmony.
She said yes, or she took a sheet of the conference document and on the back she drew various hills around the bay, and on the top of one of the hills a small village. Populonia!
EARTH ARCHITECTURE
THE ROUND EARTH BUILDING
The building was primarily designed as a space to process the cannabis and flax cultivated on the land, as well as the wild medicinal plants growing in the 20% reserved area. Construction began in 2008 and was completed in 2018 (though, due to working only during the summer months, it technically took 5 years).
This project was made possible thanks to Antonio Carmelo, the architect; Christina, the project manager; Danny Fuzzi, the head carpenter; Dzjtan, the lead mason; the many WWOOF volunteers; and the multitude of strays who stayed. Our deepest gratitude goes to the Etruscan spirits in the cosmos for their guidance, support, and permission."
The Etruscan Concept of the Cosmos in wich three major forces operated: heavenly (orange), earthly (green) and under worldly (blue). This division of the universe was used not only in divination but also in the planning of cities and in the placement of temples and buildings.
